Drawing on a wealth of resources, we help people with disabilities enjoy their greatest possible freedom and independence. Life skills instruction, employment coaching and other individualized services are offered for participants, along with a broad range of assistance for families.
CAP Services
A full range of Community Alternative Program (CAP) services are available through LCI for people in Lee, Moore and Harnett counties with physical, mental and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Services are provided at no cost to those who are eligible through the North Carolina Division of Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities/Substance Abuse Services.
- Day Supports helps clients enhance their self-sufficiency, socialization, and prevocational and adaptive skills to enjoy their maximum functional level.
- Home and Community Services helps clients use resources in the community and practice skills for social interaction and daily living.
- Personal Care helps clients in their homes learn to live as independently as possible.
- Respite providing temporary relief for families providing care for their family member.
- Supported Employment providing one-on-one support to help clients maintain a competitive job.
Day Program
People of varying skills can succeed and advance; sometimes, it just takes some personal assistance. Through LCI programs offered daily, clients can develop the skills they need.
- Adult Developmental Vocational Program helps clients develop independent living and problem solving skills. The service is available weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and provides assistance in all aspects of life, including compensatory education (including GED preparation), daily living and prevocational skills.
Family Services
Success in life always takes some help along the way, and we realize that's especially true for people with disabilities. That's why we also provide assistance for families, primary caregivers and the broader community.
- Respite provides safety and supervision for individuals with developmental disabilities, while primary caregivers or family members have time to handle other concerns.
- Advocacy helps program participants and their families understand legislative changes that may affect their lives, offering classes to help participants make decisions and effectively articulate their positions. Advocacy is strengthened through our participation in the North Carolina Association of Rehabilitation Facilities, which coordinates some advocacy campaigns.
Targeted Case Management
All have individual goals beyond treatment of their disabilities, so LCI offers case management services designed to help people reach their educational, vocational, financial, social and other non-treatment needs.
